Resilience in Motion: Beth's Story of Recovery, Strength, and Success with Myotherapy

At Essbee Myotherapy, Shaun has the privilege of working with some of the most dedicated and inspiring athletes in local football. One athlete who stands out is Beth, a talented and resilient footballer making waves in the SFNL Division 1 Senior Women’s Football League with the Mordialloc Football Club.
At just 23 years old, Beth has already faced significant physical challenges, including three ACL reconstructions (two on her right knee and one on her left). Despite these setbacks, her determination and professionalism have allowed her to return to high-level football, week in and week out, showing improved confidence on the field and the ability to compete with skill and composure.
When Beth first came to Essbee Myotherapy in Botanic Ridge, she was focused on injury prevention and regaining full function in her knees. Through a tailored approach combining dry needling, functional cupping, and exercise prescription, we were able to reduce muscular tension, restore movement efficiency, and strengthen the muscles supporting her ACLs.
Dry needling targeted tight and overactive muscles around her knees and lower limbs, helping to release tension, improve circulation, and reduce pain.
Functional cupping was used to improve blood flow, decrease tissue adhesion, and support recovery between games and training sessions.
Exercise prescription focused on neuromuscular control, stability, and progressive strength, ensuring Beth not only rehabilitated her ACLs but actively prevented further injury while enhancing her on-field performance.
Week by week, Beth’s confidence grew, evident in her fearless approach to marking contests, her agility in change-of-direction movements, and her consistency across matches.
Her ability to trust her knees again is a testament to the combination of professional Myotherapy support, disciplined rehabilitation, and her own commitment to staying fit and strong.
Beth’s journey is a reminder that injury management and rehabilitation are as much about mental resilience as physical recovery. By integrating structured Myotherapy treatments into her weekly routine, she can maintain peak performance in the SFNL while enjoying the competitive camaraderie of community football.
